Commissions: FAQs

What is a commission?

A commission is
an order for the creation of a work
of art on your selected subject.
I have completed
commissioned works for clients that include their
favorite places, beloved pets, and custom cards and
invitations. I work from your reference photos and
specified color palate; paintings are priced based
upon materials required and time to render.

How does the commission process work?

1. Fill out the Get a Price Quote form on this page with as much information as possible.
2. I'll reply to you via email with a detailed price quote and a contract.
3. If you decide to proceed with the commission, you'll email me the signed contract, additional reference photos (if needed), and remit payment.
4. Your completed, original painting will be shipped directly to you.

How much does a commission cost?

Every piece is different. The price is based on the complexity of the subject matter, the time it takes to render, and the cost of the materials. Commission pricing starts at $75 for a small painting.

What will the finished product look like?

Every piece is different and is based upon the reference photos, color specifications, and requests provided by the client. Your commission will arrive packaged in a white, archival quality, 100% acid-free mat and backing board. It will be sealed in a plastic sleeve and well packed for shipping to your home. You can simply remove the plastic sleeve and insert your artwork into a standard size frame (easy to pick up at Michael's or Hobby Lobby) in the style/color of your choice.

How long does a commission take to complete?

The time it takes to complete a commission varies! Generally, a small commission (5"x7" or 8"x10") is completed and shipped out within 10 business days. Larger works (9"x12" and up) or works with more detail (ex: three dogs in one painting) take considerably more time. Please let me know what your time deadline is when you complete the Get a Price Quote form.

How do I pay for my commission?

I require payment up front, before work begins. In my email with your contract, I will provide several payment options (Venmo, PayPal, or credit card.) If you are purchasing a commission as a gift but aren't sure exactly what the recipient would like best, a                                 is always a good option.

Fill out the Get a Price Quote form with as much specific detail as possible to receive a price quote for your commission within 48 hours.

I use reference photos to paint your subject. Please choose a photo that shows your subject up close - at eye level is best. Please do not upload photos with heavy filters or blurred backgrounds. While you can only upload 1 photo on this form, I'll request that you email several more if you decide to move forward with the commission. Thanks!
